2023年12月,我们的创始人Carly,在云南度过了一个难忘的寒假。她在海拔3000多米的高原山区,被壮丽景色深深吸引,也目睹了山区孩子们渴望书籍文具和冬衣,面临着严重的教育资源不平衡(比如缺失音乐艺术课程),且等待教育资助才能重返校园的现状。她开始思考如何从长远角度帮助他们,于是她走访了当地的社区和村干部,深入了解教育问题的地理原因,历史原因和需求。

这次经历让Carly深受触动,回到新加坡,她查阅了大量的文献,比如: 2020年国家统计局和联合国儿童基金会发布的 “2020 年中国儿童人口状况事实与数据“一篇长达 20页的报告中指出:中国原贫困地区(包括扶贫重点县和贫困片区县,共计832个县)儿童6517万人,占全国儿童人口的21.9%。” 那一刻,她意识到仅仅提供食物和衣物,不足以从根本上改善当地贫困的现状。

目睹了山区儿童的困境,Carly决心为改变他们的现状做出贡献。她创立了梦学平台,找到志同道合的几位高中生伙伴,致力于通过科技远程帮助山区贫困儿童打破教育困境,改变命运。

Inspirations Behind

Born in 2024, Wish-ed has thrived with the support of members and volunteers from the Singapore community. Driven by our unwavering dedication, we aspire to connect with more individuals and make a meaningful difference in their lives.

In December 2023, our founder Carly embarked on an unforgettable winter break to Yunnan. Amidst the breathtaking scenery of the mountainous highlands at an altitude of over 3000 meters, she witnessed the stark reality faced by children in these remote areas. These children yearned for books, stationery, and warm winter clothing, yet they grappled with a severe imbalance of educational resources. Their return to school hinged upon the availability of educational funding. This experience deeply moved Carly, prompting her to embark on a quest to help on this situation. She delved into the community, engaging with local leaders to gain a deeper understanding of the geographical and historical roots of the educational challenges, as well as the specific needs of the children.

Returning to Singapore, Carly immersed herself in extensive research, including a 20-page report titled "Facts and Figures on the Status of China's Child Population in 2020," jointly released by the National Bureau of Statistics and UNICEF. The report revealed that 65.17 million children in China's poverty-stricken regions (comprising 832 counties designated as key poverty areas) accounted for 21.9% of the nation's total child population. This realization struck Carly: providing mere sustenance and clothing was not enough to fundamentally address the underlying causes of poverty in these regions.

Witnessing the plight of these children, Carly resolved to make a contribution to transforming their lives. She established the Wish-ed platform, rallying a team of like-minded high school students to harness the power of technology to bridge the educational divide and empower these children to break free from the cycle of poverty and shape their destinies.
